What is Slichot?
During the week before Rosh HaShana many Jews wake up early to
say special prayers asking for forgiveness (selicha in Hebrew) for all the
mistakes they made over the past year. In Jerusalem, where Marcy lives,
people wake up at dawn to begin the day by saying how sorry they are for
all the mistakes they made, and how they will try to behave better in the
coming year. |
