Some sages say that it is just as important to eat on the
day before Yom Kippur as it is to fast on Yom Kippur itself. That’s why,
just before the fast begins, we have a big holiday meal, called the
se’uda hamafseket, the final meal. Then, as soon as the meal is
finished, we change into shoes which are not made of leather and go to Beit Knesset for Kol
Nidre. |
